This marks the 22nd year of the Tao 2012 Wall Calendar, which features contemplative nature photographs, Chinese calligraphy and text from Gia-fu Feng and Jane English's translations of the Tao Te Ching and Chuang Tsu's Inner Chapters. The Tao Te Ching, the esoteric but infinitely practical book written in the sixth century B.C. by Lao Tsu, has been translated more times than any work except the Bible. Written in the fourth century B.C., Chuang Tsu's Inner Chapters is a companion volume to the Tao Te Ching. Chuang Tsu was to Lao Tsu as Saint Paul was to Jesus, and Plato to Socrates. The book Chuang Tsu: Inner Chapters is also available from Amber Lotus Publishing.

The interior pages of this calendar are printed on 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer paper, processed chlorine free and printed with soy based inks. In addition to printing our products on recycled paper, Amber Lotus Publishing continues to plant trees and offset our carbon footprint with NativeEnergy.

Taoism (the T pronounced as D) is a beyond time and space philosophy. Lao Tsu is one of the main inpiration for this Chinese teachings. It is amazing. I love it. Taoism is a puzzle to the mind which is programmed in a linear way and structured way. It shoots through the earthly and grounded way of thinking and living like a lazor, bringing in freshness of perspective and universal and esoteric truths.

Taoism is excellent for the mind. It is subtle but has the potential of being transformative if you contemplate the seemingly easy writings.

This calendar is great to have to remember to get out of that box to the beyond - to what life and our being here is really about.
Once I said to a wise elder, "Polar opposites like black and white just tear me apart." He replied in slow easy words, "Let me show you Ansel Adams photographs. You see, there is no pure white, no pure black. Shades of grays are beautiful as these define infinite variations." --- He was right four decades ago. I've found that a balanced life is lived in shades of deepest grays to brightest creamy grays. Tao . . . the balanced flow of living in the present where "this too shall pass".
This has been my favorite calendar year after year. Jane English's photography is really wonderful and truly captures the essence of Being and of Now -- at once dispassionate and embracing, finding that thread of the infinte in the every-day materials of the world around her and us. The quotes from the Tao Te Ching and Chuang Tsu are always thought provoking.
The Tao is both a light and airy instance and a weighty concern. One likes being within it and on it and also dreads being off it. It is easy to stray away from the path and commit deeds not harmonious with true nature, so it is nice and comforting to have a calendar of the months with great pictures and great poetry set to remind one how to stay in touch with the Tao. It can truly save life.
Well it is not English, Spanish or French but lovely caliligraphy with beautiful images and wisdom teaching from Lao Tsu. My friend loved this gift. It is black and white, some would not favor a colorless calendar, but friends with soft grey walls or all neutral interiors will love ...
Black and white calenders are hard to find, but my wife really wanted one badly to match the decor of her room. I found this one and my wife really likes it. She says there is more to this calender that just dates on paper!
I have been using the Tao Calendar for decades. The photos are superb and the text enchanting. I take the photos down and make them into
envelopes for letters I write to friends.
love the photos!
