Someone—with a very personal motive—has it out for Lisa Wade, Ocracoke Island's sheriff's dispatcher. She was viciously attacked, her home was ransacked and one very precious possession was stolen. Deputy Scott Michaels plans to stay close until the culprit is caught…but that means involving Lisa in the investigation. And her assistance may cause more trouble for Lisa when she finds clues in a journal to a deadly mystery. As Lisa and Scott cross dangerous territory, they inch closer to the truth—and to each other. But lurking in the shadows is a killer determined to keep some secrets buried forever.

Frankly, I bought this book because of its cover. Like the cover for SECRET AGENT FATHER by Laura Scott, it was breathtaking for me. Fortunately, both books were as wonderful or even better than their covers.

Lisa Wade works as Ocracoke's Island deputy sheriff's dispatcher. A beautiful woman with a painful past, she wants to leave the island and build her life somewhere else. But the problems in the past pale in comparison with what she has to face now. First, she is attacked in her own home and a family heirloom is stolen. Then, her house is ransacked, and the worst for her is yet to come...

Scott Michaels is a new deputy sheriff on the island. He is instantly attracted to Lisa, but as he's trying to recover from post traumatic stress disorder, he doesn't think he deserves to be with her. However, he needs to protect her from whomever targets Lisa, and the attraction only grows...

Will Lisa find the answers to her family history? Who is trying to destroy her? Will Scott and Lisa find the true path that will lead both of them to happiness? Some of the asnwers, especially the one to the villain's identity, are not given until the end of the book, and I liked that the author kept me guessing. It can be frustrating when the villain's identity is clear somewhere in the middle of the story, but the heroine still has no clue. I found the setting rather fascinating as well. But my favorite part was the message. Five stars.

I rated this a 5 because it held my interest from page one. Lisa was such an interesting lady to get to know better. I can relate to her trust issues and then when Scott enters her house and finds her injured, his PTSD hits through flashbacks. Scott knows he cares for Lisa yet hides his feelings. You have to read the story to find out why Lisa has an enemy, why they are determined to kill her, why her mom was killed. Surprised ending who the culprit is. There are a lot more suspense in this book and not enough room here to tell you about it. You must read this second story of Ocracoke Island . You are guaranteed a great read. I couldn't put it down. Read it in two days! Can't wait for the next book!

Another great suspense and romance book from Sandra Robbins. She wrote this trilogy about a small place called Ocracoke Island. The place was depicted so vividly that I had to check it out on google. I see a vacation there in my future. Ms. Robbins does an excellent job with character interactions. She made these characters ones I wanted to know personally. In this book Lisa Wade, the sheriff dispatcher, is attacked and is in danger of losing her life unless Deputy Scott Michaels can find the culprit before he kills Lisa. Of course as most light romances, the female does not stay out of the mystery, so she gets in more trouble as the story builds. This is a super book to read as a beach romance. It is also good for young teens since it has great morals as well. I recommend this series by Sandra Robbins, and hope you enjoy it too.

This author did a good job in trying to make you figure out who the villan was, but I did figure it out. She kept the pages turning and I was entertained. The characters had depth and frankly this island sounds wonderful and I'm not a beach person! It kind of reminds me of Terri Blackstock's Cape Refuge as far as the setting goes. You would have to introduce more characters to come up with a storyline like that and these books aren't formatted that way. A good read, but not outstanding.

Loved this book. I did not read book 1 yet, so since I liked this book so much, I will be purchasing both book 1 and 3 in this series. Great faith, suspense & romance.

Wonderful Christian suspense book. A story about discovering your true family showed just how our decisions in life affects many people. Loved the suspense. Will read more of her books.
